Our Team
Noël J. Akers
Noël is a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney. He is also a Registered Trade Mark Agent in the UK. He graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Chemical Engineering before qualifying in the patent and trade mark profession.
Noël has worked with a number of international corporations and law firms and spent a considerable length of time practising European patent law in the United States. Noël has developed a specialty in coordinating patent procurement and litigation in cases involving actions in the US and Europe.
Noël has extensive experience in all aspects of the procurement, enforcement and exploitation of intellectual property, and has published widely on intellectual property rights.
Guy Cooper
Guy joined N.J. Akers & Co in 2019 as a Trainee Patent Attorney, working under the supervision of Noel. He graduated from the University of Bristol with a master’s degree in Physics with Industrial Experience.
Whilst at University, Guy worked on placement within the Technology Scouting and Feasibility Team at Merck Chemicals Ltd. Following graduation, Guy joined the UK Intellectual Property Office, where he worked as a Patent Examiner for almost three years.
Guy has experience in UK patent prosecution, including Search and Examination, as well as a broader awareness of procedures at the EPO and WIPO.
Rowena Clover
Rowena is a qualified Patent Paralegal and a member of Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys. Rowena joined N.J. Akers & Co in 2008 and expanded her role to include all matters relating to Patent filing and prosecution administration in the UK, Europe and Worldwide.
Rowena provides admin and paralegal support in the patent department, dealing with document review and management, filing of patent applications, monitoring of deadlines and procedures for foreign filings.
Suzanne Millington
Suzanne has been with N.J. Akers & Co since 2006 and is currently studying an accounting course in Xero to further enhance her accounting skills.
Suzanne issues invoices, handles incoming and outgoing payments and is responsible for all aspects of our accounting systems and services.
Dawn Nash
Dawn joined N.J. Akers & Co in 2012. Dawn mans the reception with Jo and they will be your first point of contact when telephoning the office with any enquiries and will be there to greet you on arrival.
Dawn carries out a wide range of administrative duties in respect of patent cases and is responsible for attending to the renewals of granted patents. She also ensures that the office runs smoothly and efficiently.
Jo Bryant
Jo joined N.J. Akers & Co in 2015. Jo mans the reception with Dawn and they will be your first point of contact when telephoning the office with any enquiries and will be there to greet you on arrival.
Jo carries out a wide range of administrative duties, together with ensuring the office runs smoothly and efficiently.
